Barnet 1-4 Charlton Athletic

Chris Powell sent a strong side to Underhill with the starting line-up getting a bigger slice of the action than in the opening two pre-season games.

Powell used the game to experiment with another formation, a midfield diamond with Johnnie Jackson at the tip of it behind the strikers, Dale Stephens spraying the passes out from deep and Bradley Pritchard and Salim Kerkar operating in the wide areas.

After the raft of second half changes, the team again adopted to a 4-3-3 shape. Kerkar looks a good passer of the ball but not the greatest defensively.

Wright-Phillips and Jackson had early chances before the former put the Addicks ahead after just four minutes.

A curling trade mark free-kick from Yann Kermorgant doubled the visitors lead after 28 minutes and Johnnie Jackson headed a third eight minutes later.

Jon Nurse pulled one back for Barnet on the stroke of half-time.

A second Kermorgant free-kick just past the hour mark completed the scoring. Plenty of changes in the last quarter of the game, including former Charlton academy striker, Danny Uchechi, coming on for the Bees.

A more than satisfactory workout for Charlton which would have left Powell vey happy.
